Searching safely online — the 6 rules you never break
To stay clear of fraud and keep the search joyful — six non-negotiable safety rules for online matrimony, from our trust and safety team's experience.
Beside thousands of genuine connections, a few fraudsters exist online too — that is reality. The good news: a handful of simple rules puts you out of their reach. From our trust and safety team's experience, here are six rules that have no exceptions.
1. Move forward only with verified profiles
The green verification seal means that person proved their identity with an NID. Keep the "verified only" filter on — it removes most of the risk in one stroke.
2. A request for money ends it — no exceptions
An emergency, a visa problem, a "stuck parcel" — however it arrives, a request for money means fraud. Report immediately. A genuine match never asks a stranger for money.
3. Share personal details gradually
Phone number, home address, employer — none of it is needed in the first week. Let the conversation deepen inside the app; share more only as trust builds.
4. Meet face to face on a video call
Lovely photos, sweet words — but endless excuses to avoid a video call? That is a warning sign. Talk on video at least once before meeting; amarjibon supports safe calls right inside the app.
5. First meeting in public, with family
Make the first meeting a restaurant or another familiar public place, with a family member along. Tell someone at home where you are going and with whom.
6. If something feels off, block and report
You owe no explanation and no politeness. The moment something feels wrong, block and report. Our team reviews every report within 24 hours, and serious violations end in permanent bans.
