From Sylhet to London: a diaspora match the whole family trusted
“My father searched by district, I searched by city — amarjibon let both of us be right.”
Nusrat's parents wanted a family from greater Sylhet; Nusrat wanted someone who understood life in the UK. On every other platform those two wishes pulled in opposite directions.
On amarjibon her father filtered by home district while Nusrat filtered by where people actually were. Tanvir — raised in Sylhet, completing his ACCA in London — appeared in both lists.
The families did what diaspora families do best: a Friday-evening video call that stretched past midnight Bangladesh time, grandmothers included. Tanvir's NID and education verifications meant the conversation was about character, not credentials.
They were married in Sylhet last Eid season, with a London walima a month later. Two cities, one story.
