These Law Enforcement Guidelines explain how amarjibon (আমার জীবন) works with law enforcement: how we proactively contact law enforcement entities when we become aware of serious harm, how law enforcement and government agencies can request member information from us, and the legal standards we require before disclosing it. They are part of our Terms of Service and consistent with our Privacy Policy.
We do not wait to be asked when people are in danger. amarjibon proactively contacts law enforcement entities — on our own initiative, without a prior request — when our moderation systems, staff, or member reports make us aware of:
In these cases we permanently ban the accounts involved, preserve the related account records and evidence, and file a report with the competent authority — in Bangladesh, typically the Bangladesh Police (including its cyber and criminal investigation units) or the local unit where the harm is occurring. Where the matter crosses borders, we cooperate with the international channels available to us, including referrals toward bodies such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and INTERPOL-linked channels for child-safety matters.
Law enforcement and government agencies should submit requests to legal@amarjibon.com from an official government or agency email address, on official letterhead. Include the requesting agency, the officer’s name and contact details, the legal authority for the request, the specific account (phone number, email, or profile link), and exactly what information you need. We authenticate every request and may reject or narrow requests that are vague, overbroad, or improperly authorized. We do not respond to requests made by phone or social media.
We require valid legal process under Bangladeshi law — a court order, warrant, or a formal written request from a duly authorized agency, appropriate to the data sought. Content such as messages or photos requires a court order or warrant.
We require process routed through a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT), a letter rogatory, or another lawful cross-border channel recognized under Bangladeshi law. We generally cannot act on direct requests from foreign agencies.
Where there is a genuine risk of death or serious physical harm, we may disclose information voluntarily, to the extent permitted by law, without full legal process. Mark the request EMERGENCY and describe the specific, imminent harm.
On a valid request we will preserve available account records for 90 days, renewable once, pending legal process. Preservation holds data; it does not disclose it.
Subscriber and registration details, account and verification status, login IP addresses and timestamps, and payment records we retain for compliance. We only produce data we actually hold — for example, NID images are deleted after the limited retention window described in our Privacy Policy.
We will try to notify a member before disclosing their information so they can protect their rights, unless we are legally prohibited or it is an emergency.
