Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Amar Jibon (আমার জীবন) — a Bangladesh-based matrimony platform. The operating entity and business registration details are available on written request to legal@amarjibon.com.

This is a draft. Final Terms will be reviewed by Bangladeshi counsel before public launch.

1. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must not be currently married (Amar Jibon is for unmarried individuals seeking marriage).
  • You must provide truthful information at sign-up and throughout your use of the service.
  • You must not be a Restricted Party under applicable sanctions laws.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You must not share your account with anyone else. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@amarjibon.com.

3. Acceptable use

While using Amar Jibon, you agree NOT to:

  • Impersonate any other person or misrepresent your identity, marital status, or photos.
  • Upload someone else's NID. This is a serious offense and grounds for permanent ban.
  • Use the service for commercial solicitation, marketing, or to advertise other services.
  • Harass, threaten, abuse, or stalk other users.
  • Post pornographic, violent, hateful, or illegal content.
  • Attempt to circumvent verification or security mechanisms.
  • Use bots, scrapers, or any automated means to access the service.
  • Resell or monetize matches obtained through the service.

4. Verification

Amar Jibon offers NID verification as the foundation of trust. You agree that:

  • The NID and guardian NID you submit are your own and the genuine guardian's, respectively.
  • We may review them manually and reject them if they appear forged or mismatched.
  • We may contact your guardian (if you provide a phone number) to confirm consent.
  • Verification is required to send unlimited interests; free-tier users have weekly limits.

5. Subscriptions and refunds

  • Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime in Settings → Subscription.
  • Refunds within the first 7 days of an initial subscription are honored on request, except where prohibited by local law.
  • Pricing is geo-aware — BD users pay in BDT, international users in USD. Prices subject to change with 30 days notice.
  • Failed payments will downgrade your tier to Free until resolved.

6. Content you upload

You retain ownership of everything you upload (photos, voice notes, videos, text). By uploading, you grant Amar Jibon a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display that content to other users for the purpose of matchmaking, and to store it on our infrastructure for as long as your account exists.

We don't use your photos for marketing or training AI models. We don't share your content with anyone outside the service except as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Reports, moderation, and termination

  • If reported, your account may be temporarily restricted while we investigate.
  • Violations of these Terms can result in warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans.
  • For serious violations (impersonation, fake NID, harassment, criminal threats), we may ban your account immediately and without warning.
  • You may delete your own account at any time via Settings → Delete account. A 30-day grace period applies before final deletion.

8. No warranties

Amar Jibon is provided "as is." We do our best to verify identities and keep the community safe, but we cannot guarantee that any user is who they claim to be, that any match will result in marriage, or that the service will be uninterrupted. Decisions about whom to meet and marry are entirely yours; please exercise sensible caution.

9. Liability cap

To the maximum extent permitted by Bangladeshi law, our total liability to you arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, or BDT 5,000 — whichever is greater.

10. Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively by the courts of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Before going to court, we ask that you contact us in good faith first — most things can be resolved by a quick email.

11. Changes

When we make material changes, we'll notify you at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
