Cookie Policy

amarjibon uses device storage for three things: keeping the service working, remembering a display choice you made, and — only if you say yes — understanding how the product is used. We do not use advertising trackers.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers cookies and similar device storage — including the storage the amarjibon apps use on your phone. We treat them together because the rules should not depend on which mechanism your browser or phone happens to use. It applies to amarjibon.com and to the amarjibon apps. What happens to your information after it reaches us — what we collect, who processes it, and how long each store keeps it — is set out in our Privacy Policy.

2. Essential storage — always on

These are what make the service work at all — sign-in and language, and nothing else. Each one exists for a single named purpose, and none of them carries an advertising identifier.

aj_rt — the sign-in cookie. It is HttpOnly and Secure, which means our server can read it but scripts running in your browser cannot. It is cleared when you sign out.
aj_session — a non-secret flag telling the page you are signed in, so you are not shown the signed-out homepage for a moment before your account loads.
aj_local_signed_out and aj_auth_boundary_version — remember on this device that you signed out, and which sign-in is the current one, so one browser tab cannot bring back a session you ended in another.
NEXT_LOCALE — whether you read amarjibon in English or Bangla.

These cannot be switched off. Without them you cannot stay signed in or keep your language, so we do not ask for consent to them — they are strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for.

3. A display preference — not essential

theme — your Light, Dark or System choice, saved only once you pick one. This one is browser storage rather than a cookie, so it never travels to our server, and it holds nothing but that choice.

This one is not strictly necessary — amarjibon works without it, and clearing your browser storage removes it and returns you to System. We list it separately for that reason: it is a convenience you chose, not part of delivering the service, and we would rather name it than quietly file it under “essential”.

4. Optional analytics storage

Nothing analytics-related is stored on your device until you choose to allow optional product analytics. Before that choice, the analytics software is not even loaded.
If you allow it, a pseudonymous identifier is stored so we can tell one visit from another. It is not your name, email address or phone number.
You can decline, or withdraw later. Withdrawal stops new collection and clears that identifier and anything queued on your device.

What we collect, who processes it, how long each store keeps it, and how deletion works are set out in section 9 of our Privacy Policy. We state them in one place so the two documents cannot disagree.

5. What we do not use

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking pixels.
We do not sell or share analytics data for advertising.
The apps do not use an advertising identifier.

6. Your controls

Optional analytics can be turned on or off at any time in Privacy Center on the web, or in Settings → Privacy & data in the apps. Your browser’s own cookie controls work here too — but blocking the essential storage above means you will not be able to stay signed in.

7. Changes to this policy

We give the same notice for this policy as for our Privacy Policy: material changes are announced in-app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Publishing an updated Cookie Policy never by itself turns on optional analytics — that always needs your explicit choice.
