In each of these cities, the community is measured in hundreds or low thousands of families, and a large share of them are related to each other or came through the same few chains of migration. That is exactly the situation where a well-meaning local search runs out of options in about six weeks.

What to do when the local pool is fifty families

Nobody wants to be the family that widens the search too early. But in a city of four hundred Bangladeshi households, staying local is not caution, it is arithmetic. A few things make a cross-province search work:

1. Decide the relocation question first. Would you move provinces after marriage, and would you expect your spouse to? Answer this before you look at a single profile. It halves the wasted conversations.
2. Be explicit about status. Citizen, permanent resident, work permit, study permit, provincial nominee in process. It is the first thing a serious family asks.
